Have you seen this picture yet Question This one came to me several times with the location and story different each time. Rolling Eyes

Some believe this cat was shot by coyote hunters in the state of Pennsylvania. Now in the possession of the PGC. Confused

Another woman actually made a phone call to a fellow researcher said that she hit the cat with her car, then dragged it off the road. Shocked She then called her son, who just returned from a tour in Iraq and sold the cat someone , to keep it from the PGC. Rolling Eyes Shocked

Next the cat was said to be hit by a car in New York. It did not take me long to find the person exclaiming this story, so I called him. "Yes, I will call you". Wink Idea "I like to get the story from the horses mouth." Smile This person gave me his name and his story is that a friend of his wives father in law..hit the cat with a car. Okay...I ask.."will you go to this person and take pictures of the damage to the vehicle, because this is a huge cat Exclamation " He says, "190 pounds!" and I ask while you are there will you collect hair and blood samples from the vehicle for me so I can send it too our lab. He says "yes" he also gave me the location of the crash, 39th & Savage in Arcade,in the city of Sardinia, its about 35 miles south of Buffalo. Further into the interview I ask for the rest of the pictures he told my friend he has, well now he says that's the only one. I ask..."where is the cat now Question "...he says DEC has confiscated this huge mountain lion. Okay that's fine I will make some calls to see if they have this cat. Idea Idea

Now looking at this picture I see the scene of a Western hunt Idea Arrow dog kennels on the back of the truck, radio's and snow sleds...yupper I think that's what we are looking at Exclamation Exclamation

I am suppose to hear back from these reporters soon, when I get it so will you. Rolling Eyes

Whoever started this hoax sure did it up right. It spread like wildfire via cell phone texts - everyone believes it! I live right near that area of route 39 and Savage and no such thing happened there. The DEC blotter showed no calls concerning a cat, the police blotter is also empty of any reports concerning a collision with a big cat. The police are usually called first, and they then call the DEC- both blotters show nothing. It isn't a DEC truck in that photo, hunting dog boxes aren't standard on the DEC trucks!
I have a friend who searched the entire snow covered area for tracks -NOTHING.
The media has not been able to find any facts on this either, not even a blurb in the papers, of course the local radio stations are having fun with it though.
When bears, which are rather common in this area are hit on the roads the media talks about it for days. But of course, when a bear is hit, there is a damaged vehicle, lots of photos, blood and fur on the grill and a dead bear to show for it.
You are right on with your assumption that this is a photo taken out west where hunting the big cats with dogs is legal. I see a red spot behind the upper portion of the cats left leg, a well placed bullet to the vitals perhaps? The blood on the inside of the right paw is probably the blood from the fatal chest wound.
The cat is in amazingly good condition for one being hit hard enough by a car to die. Not even a bloody nose!

I am not big on conspiracy theories but maybe somebody who wants to discredit efforts to prove cougars are out there is putting this stuff out. 'Cause I just cant imagine a normal person wasting their time to do this. Rolling Eyes
I wish I could travel through my county as fast as this cat travels interstate..
